BTT3. Tauros, the return of the Aurochs

Discover an e-bike route perfect for groups, families, or friends who love nature and adventure!

This is a comfortable and highly enjoyable ride thanks to electric assistance—ideal for those with a moderate fitness level looking to explore the Sierra de Albarracín at a relaxed pace. It is especially recommended in spring and summer, as a large part of the route winds through the shade of vast pine forests.

Our adventure begins in Bronchales, pedaling along the historic Camino del Cid. We’ll dive into a landscape dominated by Scots pine, forest tracks, and wide-open clearings. Along the way, it’s common to spot wildlife such as red deer, roe deer, and woodland birds in one of their most important natural sanctuaries.

As we head toward Frías de Albarracín, the landscape opens up, bringing us into the territory of the Tauros—large herbivores that resemble the ancient European Aurochs. We might also see Pottoka horses, an ancestral breed of Atlantic origin. We will make interpretive stops to learn about their behavior and ecological importance, always with respect and safety in mind. Additionally, you’ll learn about Rewilding Spain’s initiatives in the southern Iberian System and their efforts to restore lost natural processes.

After enjoying the wildlife and the scenery, we’ll make a peaceful return to Bronchales, completing an experience that blends nature, history, and sustainable mobility into an unforgettable memory.
